Camp Instructor Spotlight: Wen Yih “Andy” Yu

Sharing his passions, Andy Yu not only spends his time teaching the youth of the orchestra world, but he also has the honor of performing violin with the Memphis Symphony Orchestra. Andy was a chamber music faculty member and violin instructor at our 2019 summer camp and we are pleased to have him back this year!

Beyond teaching PRIZM students, Andy is a violin faculty member and an ensemble instructor for the string sections of the Rhodes College Orchestra. He has also served as the guest conductor for the Memphis Youth String Orchestra and has been a featured soloist with the Rhodes College Orchestra, along with performing recitals all over the globe.

More fun facts about Andy:

  • He is originally from Taiwan where he was a member of the Taipei Symphony Orchestra.
  • He teaches private violin lessons in his at-home studio.
  • He earned his masters degree in music from the Mannes College of Music in New York.
  • He regularly participates in performances for Crosstown Arts, the Memphis Chamber Music Society, and other ensembles in the Greater Memphis area.
