PRIZM Alumni spotlight – Katie Hook

Katie Hook is more than a PRIZM alumna, she’s become a PRIZM veteran! She first participated in PRIZM Fest in 2011. With two years of flute experience under her belt and on the verge of packing away her instrument forever, she enrolled in our summer camp, opening herself to a new world of music playing.

“Performing in my three chamber groups was one of the best feelings, and I was convinced to keep playing flute so I could continue to play in chamber groups throughout the year and return to PRIZM each summer,” Katie said. “I made lifelong friendships and connected with so many musicians who helped me grow into who I am today.”

Katie joined the camp every year until she graduated high school. She then remained involved with PRIZM throughout her college years. She served as an intern during the camp and festival, and for the last two years, she was hired as a project coordinator.

Katie graduated in May from the University of Memphis in business information and technology with a minor in flute and German. This fall, she is continuing her education up north and pursuing a Master of Science in arts administration at Boston University.

“I hope to continue to work with more nonprofit arts organizations like PRIZM and help other children find the joy of classical and chamber music like I did all those years ago,” Katie said.

We hope so too, Katie!
