PRIZM Alumni spotlight – Elisha Johnson

We’re thankful to have incredibly active, engaged alumni! Because of this, and all the amazing things they accomplish later in college and into their careers, we’ve started an Alumni Spotlight series as these former students are a testament to the talent who come through our educational programs.

One of those alumni is Elisha Johnson. Elisha enrolled in the PRIZM Music Camp and International Chamber Music Festival the summer of 2016, right before her junior year of high school. She decided to return the following summer, the same year PRIZM expanded the camp into a two-week option.

When asked how PRIZM impacted her, Elisha said, “At the time, I had never done chamber work, so it definitely exposed me to something different at such a young age. I grew really interested in doing chamber groups in the future. My confidence level in my playing has increased tremendously, and I became more comfortable with performing in front of people. The faculty I worked with were so helpful and encouraging to me and my peers.”

Elisha, a rising sophomore, is majoring in music education at the University of Central Arkansas where she is studying French horn under the instruction of Dr. Brent Shires. She has participated in the Bear Marching Band, the UCA Wind Ensemble, the Conway Symphony Orchestra, the Horn Studio and a bass group.

We’re proud of Elisha and cannot wait to see what she accomplishes in the years to come!
