PRIZM’s Winter Festival is just around the corner! Are you ready to meet our talented instructors, participate in a fun-filled weekend and listen to gorgeous chamber music? Look no further! This week, we’re introducing Brianna Allen. Brianna’s an Arkansan finishing up her master’s degree in bassoon performance at the University of Memphis. New to PRIZM, we’re so thrilled to have a talented artist like Brianna on our team of dedicated mentors. Learn more about her below.
Welcome to PRIZM, Brianna! Tell us a little about yourself and your job.
I am the bassoon instructor for Christian Brothers High School and play the bassoon for the Starkville Symphony Orchestra and Corinth Symphony Orchestra, both in Mississippi.
What’s a fun fact about you?
I’ve won several chamber ensemble awards and have been to Germany THREE times for the Saarburg International Chamber Music Festival! In the past couple of years, I’ve also realized my passion for Renaissance and Baroque music and participated as a Baroque bassoonist and dulcianist in the University of Memphis’s Collegium Musicum.
What’s your favorite part of bringing music to young artists?
I’ve been teaching as an instructor for camps and private lessons to bassoonists of different ages since I was 18 and have enjoyed it ever since. I cherish the opportunity to show others about bassoon and why music is so essential to our lives, and I’m ready to share that knowledge with the young musicians at PRIZM!
Register your child for Winter Festival so they can learn from mentors like Brianna and other inspiring musicians.
